Spiral Rocks
MP120 - TRONDHEIM SPIRAL ROCKS
Spiral Rocks is a vertical museum in central Trondheim, shaped like spiraling rock volumes. Its transparent ground floor forms a public square, linking to the city and Trøndelag Theatre. Above, stacked volumes host exhibitions, studios, galleries, workshops, and social spaces. A public path wraps the exterior like a mountain trail, connecting sculpture gardens, children’s zones, and rest spots. At the top, a sky terrace offers views of the fjord, cathedral, and city. Reinforced underground parking is reused for support spaces, enabling a lightweight, flexible structure above. Light stone, glass, and pale wood define the interior; a green rooftop becomes a civic park.
