Risøyfest

Risøyfest acts as an open-ended process, which allows for an organic development of the island towards a balanced and healthy urban district. Through a series of temporary interventions spread across the island, Risøy can reclaim its importance to the city of Haugesund, while maintaining its cultural historical identity. The installations aim to increase quality of life by: increasing walkability, increasing proximity of amenities by optimizing its physical connectivity with the citycenter, reconnecting the island to its ecological conditions, and enhancing the local identity of the island to make it a destination at city level. Successful festival installations can in time develop into permanent structures that contain the same core values and principles as their temporary counterparts.
