Risøy Rejuvenated

We depart from two apparent opposite points of view: to preserve and promote the industrial presence, and to create a safe, joyful, and inspiring living environment for children and adults alike. The two conflicting concepts are used as a generator to show how this small island can accommodate both hardware and leisure.

Risøy Rejuvenated sets the framework for the industry to remain in the city and work together with the rest of the urban web. Designed for playfulness, it examines how the thresholds of public space can be exploited to make industrial heritage and activity an attraction, in a time of transition for both Risøy and the oil-dependent Norwegian economy.
