Project:
Isle of juxtaposition
How can an industrialized island transform into a living city? Isle of Juxtaposition is a plan that negotiates these conflicting interests and uses the eye-catching contrast as a strength. The proposal continuously seeks to maintain the balance between urban and rural, the natural and the industrialized, tourists and residents, and between temporariness and persistence. The main objective of this proposal is to establish a common ground between the contrasting fragments, and at times conflicting interests, through strategically programed public spaces and neighborhood functions that are absent in today's Risøy. Our proposal aims to restore and reshape the balance on Risøy, both in terms of the physical, demographical, and socio-economical composition.
