Project:
Himmelmuseet

Like a living organism, the museum absorbs the rhythms of the seasons and the atmosphere of the city, offering spaces for meeting, reflection, and transformation—between land and sea, past and future, community and sky.

MA488 - TRONDHEIM HIMMELMUSEET

Two large “ships” from the northern seas anchor in Trondheim, tracing a new urban path. "Himmelmuseet" is more than a museum—it is a constellation of public spaces, a mineralized fragment of sky suspended between earth and air. Rooted in the city’s infrastructure, it unfolds in three worlds: an earthy base with archives and planted voids; a luminous, suspended courtyard for permanent and temporary exhibitions; and a roofscape that becomes a new public square, open to the horizon, with gardens, cafés, and study spaces. Like a living organism, the museum absorbs the rhythms of the seasons and the atmosphere of the city, offering spaces for meeting, reflection, and transformation—between land and sea, past and future, community and sky.
