Between the city and the sea shaping a community at Risøy

There is a huge potential for further developing Haugesund and its identity as a coastal city by connecting the city across the strait. The city center has for a long time moved away from the shore and the sea front has turned into a mono-functional space of restaurants and nightclubs. In order for the city to move towards the sea once again the development of the city islands, the skirt and the waterfront is essential. In this project we focus on making the waterfront an attractive part of the city with activities and public spaces for residents at Risøy, in Haugesund, other locals and groups such as tourists. In order to do this we need to make spaces for people which connect the city and island physically and builds on its history, creating spaces which benefits all.
