Below / Between / Beyond
QW110 - TRONDHEIM BELOW / BETWEEN / BEYOND
This proposal transforms a disused carpark in Trondheim into a porous, resilient museum that houses both the Trondheim Art Museum and the Nordenfjeldske Design and Craft Museum. By retaining and adapting the existing concrete frame, the project embraces reuse as an architectural and cultural responsibility. A central public spine connects modular volumes for permanent and temporary exhibitions, enabling curatorial flexibility and phased growth. Above, the ground becomes a public landscape—open, green, and civic—where glimpses into the museum spark curiosity. This is not a monument, but a framework: an evolving cultural commons built from what already exists.
