Project:
A Softer Splash
PW783 - TRONDHEIM A SOFTER SPLASH
The project reimagines the museum not as a solitary cultural landmark, but as a civic platform where art, learning, and daily life converge. Built over the existing Leüthenhaven parking grid, it proposes a porous, reversible structure composed of three interwoven timber volumes. Open and adaptable, the building integrates public programs, exhibitions, workspaces, and gardens, responding to Trondheim’s urban fabric and climate. A shared network of circulation and gathering spaces weaves through the entire building, connecting programs and fostering exchange between visitors, locals, and staff. Designed for phased construction and everyday use, it offers layered experiences—from pass-through courtyards to panoramic terraces—blurring boundaries between institution and city.
