Treehouse-Living in an Edible Forest

Treehouse-Living in an Edible Forest provides a model for gentle densification of this wooded setting, creating cohousing treehouse apartments raised above an uninterrupted forest floor, from which food can be foraged throughout the year. A community farm grows food and provides learning and recreation opportunities for local people. Each set of treehouses has a ‘hexi-hub’ at its base offering a range of shared facilities such as gym, creche, co-working space. Apartments are flexible and can be joined for growing families and changing needs. A walking and cycling spine connects all buildings, and there is a scenic perimeter route. Bikes and skis are stored in shared facilities in all stairwells. Each home has a hütte in the forest, for hobbies and rest, with a new set of neighbours.
