Project:
The Art Terminal
RI124 - TRONDHEIM THE ART TERMINAL
This project redefines the museum as a station where art, people, and everyday life intersect. Situated between urban flows and cultural landmarks, the museum is conceived not as a static object, but as a spatial system that reflects how contemporary art moves and circulates. Visitors enter through a central lobby—an open concourse that offers orientation and choice. From there, they access parallel exhibition halls via the Gleis Staircase, selecting their own route like travelers in a station. The plan allows flexible operation through overlapping paths, temporary stops, and clear logistics routed through the rear. Public programs and commercial spaces on the edges further anchor the museum in daily urban rhythms. This flexible layout, inspired by the infrastructure of a train station, enables the building to remain open to change while rooted in its surroundings.
