Project:
SIKT
JI723 - TRONDHEIM SIKT
Leüthenhaven plot is surrounded by a diverse building scales and materials without a clear coherence. Proposing a bold new museum building at the corner of the parking lot allows the rest of the site to be used for a lush green public park. The existing underground parking is entirely reused for the new museum facilities. A cut from the street level to the lower level is made to open the underground floors for public use and natural light. The use of natural toned façade materials and large glass surfaces make the proudly standing museum visually lighter. By taking the building mass upwards, vast views of the city and fjords can be achieved. The large building mass modestly gives room for small scale buildings as well as the new park thus bringing a much-needed addition for Trondheim.
