Found space
AF519 - TRONDHEIM FOUND SPACE
Found space, not unlike found objects in art—objet trouvé—represents the transformation and reinvention of an existing condition. It is about reclaiming the ordinary and mundane, seen as an opportunity through deliberate, thoughtful intervention. The partial demolition of the underground concrete parking is approached not as a clearing operation, but as a process of careful extraction. Like a quarry, materials are precisely cut and reclaimed for reuse in the new structures. This project aims to reuse the existing underground structure while staying within its original load-bearing capacity, avoiding the need for costly reinforcement. Starting with the estimated capacity of a single underground column, it proposes an experimental and exemplary weight-sensitive approach to reuse.
