De grønne knutene / the green knots
Fagerstrand's development challenge presented an opportunity to reflect on the dramatic situation that villages around the globe are facing nowadays. The influx of populations from migration to established cities, which places pressure on developing surrounding rural villages. Villages are needing to transition into satellite cities due to this growth. Contrasting these developments are the climatic needs to reduce carbon emissions and place the environment before development. De Grønne Knutene, The Green Knots proposes strategies for growth around environmental, cultural, and social values. By coupling ecological corridors with growth and development, the aim is to turn Fagerstrand into a role model of environmental planning.
