The cultivated path

Rather than proposing a single gesture to overcome the obstacles that separate the town centre from the harbour, we believe that a series of small interventions that build upon what is already there through enhancement and additions can have a greater impact on the quality of the public space and civic life of the city.

EX713 - THE CULTIVATED PATHWe propose a strategy of careful site specific interventions which invite people to rediscover and appreciate the latent qualities of Larvik’s public spaces and landscape.For us care encompasses a thoughtful reading of the site and its qualities and complexities; designing interventions which can rehabilitate our environment while minimising their whole life carbon footprint; creating places which communities value so that they are looked after for future generations.Rather than proposing a single gesture to overcome the obstacles that separate the town centre from the harbour, we believe that a series of small interventions that build upon what is already there through enhancement and additions can have a greater impact on the quality of the public space and civic life of the city.
