Project:
The circular mine. Defying extractivism.
TW720 - NOME THE CIRCULAR MINE. DEFYING EXTRACTIVISM.
The mineral park in Nome is an opportunity to reflect on our behaviour towards resources exploitation; and more specifically of REEs; in a context of ecological and geopolitical crisis. The circular mine is an interrelated approach that tackles global perspectives of reduction of extraction needs, preservation of natural spaces and synergies between diverse activities ; reimagining possible futures for Vindsås and the wider Nome region. Cohesion and collaboration are defining the organization of programs and spaces so that industry, research, citizens and ecosystem collectively contribute to a virtuous evolution. Circular thinking is enabling the coexistence of reasoned mining, preservation of rich ecosystems and the appearance of a third landscape where bewildering is at heart.
