Project:
Reconciling the city with the sea

The proposal includes revitalizing the city center, reducing car usage, and catering to residents' needs.

Åkrehamn was recently granted town status but lacks a clear urban structure. Our project aims to transform it into an attractive town, reconnecting the harbor and the main road while considering its coastal identity. The proposal includes revitalizing the city center, reducing car usage, and catering to residents' needs. Specific interventions include creating a new square, enhancing the marina, preserving and expanding the park, constructing multi-purpose buildings, and developing a pedestrian pathway to the beach. The project promotes sustainability, local businesses, and community engagement. Implementation will occur in phases to maintain the city's attractiveness throughout the process, fostering a renewed urban landscape that celebrates Åkrehamn's historical charm and natural surroundings.
