Project:
Larvikterassen
ZW840 - LARVIKSTERRASSEN
The dramatic cliffside separating the harbor and city of Larvik recalls the many cities of the world that have leveraged similar features through a funicular tramway or an elevator. We propose the creation of an elevator that will improve access and create continuity with the city grid and center. By extending a floating walkway from the Bøkerfjellet park the current railway and roadway are bypassed entirely. We also propose a historically sensitive reprogramming of the structures surrounding the redesigned harbor to better integrate the neighboring residential area. Environmental impact is minimized through re-use of the existing built environment and improving vegetation along with easier access to it.
