Project:
Join up the dots
WX941 - JOIN UP THE DOTSJOIN [UP] THE DOTS creates a forested promenade from Bøkkerfjellet park to Larvik’s coastline. The green walkway—WALKIE—becomes a unique programmed destination that revisits Larvik’s historical relation to water and bathing. With the intent of maintaining existing views from the park, the journey begins in an excavated Crater—unearthing the former quarry— for a new library and plaza. A crevice extends from the crater to the hill’s edge, where WALKIE transitions into an aerial promenade, evoking Larvik’s characteristic quarries as it emerges from the ground in a rhythmic repetition of “extracted” blocks shifting the city towards the sea. Across roads and rail tracks, WALKIE lands on a new bath house building and steps down into a new bathing estuary at the coastline’s reconfigured edge.
