ÅKREHAMN – ÅKRA IS ALMOST ALRIGHT

The Common and The FieldMost of the guidelines have been laid with the old school, the old town hall and the houses along Rådhusveien. Together with the strip, this is the actual center of Åkrehamn. Our proposal seeks to pronounce the qualities present in the main axis of the downtown area and at the same time connect it to Kaien. With our new additions to Åkrehamn, we seek to enhance the qualities of the existing urban spaces. Using the surplus of space to create some obvious and some more unexpected links within the urban fabric, we have put effort into making both generous and intimate urban situations. The leftover field along Rådhusveien is the largest remaining plot in Åkrehamn, and is the key piece to create continuity in the center and to connect the common with the harbor. Today, the field appears as a barrier between Åkraveien and Rådhusveien, and between the park and Rådhus
