Open call for position on Europan Scientific Council
We are looking for a new member that can represent the nordic countries in the Scientific Council of Europan.
Europan is a federation of national structures that organize every two years competitions for regenerative projects of inhabited environments in European cities, followed by implementation processes. The competitions are open young European professionals in urban planning, landscaping and architecture who have graduated less than 15 years ago.
Europan has a Scientific Council (SC) at European level, currently composed of 6 members. Its role is to contribute to the content of the European competition program and to make comparative analyses of the results. Europan wishes to expand this Council by integrating an additional member from the launch of the Europan 18 competition on the "re-sourcing" theme to complement the already existing skills, particularly on the theme of increasing biodiversity in inhabited milieus.
The new member must therefore be an expert in the ecological field - regeneration and increase of biodiversity in urban, suburban and rural milieus. The candidate will preferably be a teacher and/or researcher and will have a reflective capacity on the theme and an analytical capacity of regenerative projects.
Their role - in collaboration with the 6 other members - will be to contribute to the development of the themes of each session, to the comparative analysis of the sites and the award-winning projects, to the evaluation of the implementation processes, to the moderation of debates during the two forums per biennial session bringing together the Europan partners, to the writing of texts analyzing the award-winning projects.
In order to balance the geographical origins of the members of the SC, the new member may not be resident in Austria, Cyprus, Spain, France.
An application may or may not be supported by a member country of Europan, but the person chosen will be, in his functions, autonomous, since contributing to the European part of the competition program. Applications will include a detailed CV and a motivation note highlighting the specific skills required, both documents in English.
Any questions and applications should be sent by email to the European Secretary General of Europan (didier.rebois@gmail.com) before February 7, 2025.
A commission will study the applications received in February and will select a maximum of 3 candidates. They will be interviewed at the end of February 2025 and the final choice will be announced in mid-March 2025 at the start of the Europan 18 session.
