Last Tuesday April 23th we had the pleasure to deliver the student award prize at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and attend to the presentations of these really talented architects, Maria Årthun, Cecilie Espedokken Vik, Atdhe Illyrian Belegu and Yan Zou.
Congratulations to the winner, BAS architect Atdhe Illyrian Belegu for his master thesis from 2017 «03 Assembly Palace» and props to all of the finalists for the amazing projects and presentations!
The winner project -03 Assembly Palace- is based on a survey and an analysis of the historical, demographic, socio-cultural and spatial differences between the areas of Austad and Fjell in Drammen.
03 Assembly Palace makes an attempt to present another version of Fjell. Through a combination of subjective observations and experiences, interviews with district residents and systematic registration, mapping and analysis of buildings, outdoor spaces, infrastructure and a diversity of initiatives and organizations in the district, the project successfully manage this.
The proposal appears to be resource-efficient and unifying for the neighbourhoods, and is a relevant alternative contribution or supplement to the present proposal for the transformation of the urban area. Beyond that, 03 Assembly Palace is a refreshing and valuable entry in the overall discussion about the development of neighbourhoods and satellite towns.
